It’s not surprising to see environmentalists and Hollywood liberals join forces to oppose a proposed oil pipeline. But it is surprising that they’re mounting a protest outside the White House of a president elected with liberal support, as
Politico reports.
The proposed pipeline is TransCanada Keystone XL, which would extend from the Canadian tar sands to the Gulf coast. Environmentalists oppose the pipeline out of concerns over the greenhouse gas emissions linked to the use of tar sands-based crude oil and worries about potential spills and the impact on low-income and minority communities.

Actor
Danny Glover, activists Bill McKibben, James Hansen, David Suzuki and others have written an open letter asking for protestors to risk arrest at the White House from mid-August to Labor Day.
