Leah Remini and Scientology: Documentary on Church 'Brave'

Actress Leah Remini voiced her support for the anti-Scientology documentary "Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief" in a Twitter post, calling the controversial film "brave" and praising filmmaker Alex Gibney for his work.

The 44-year-old actress broke away from the church publicly in 2013 and claimed she did it for her daughter who was reaching the age of Scientology's so-called "auditing process," according to Us Weekly.

"Going Clear" made its rounds at the Sundance Film Festival this year and just premiered on HBO.

The documentary interviewed former members and dished on such Hollywood stars as Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman during their marriage.

The film alleged the church used the couple's children to help Cruise, who was still in good standing with the church, win a favorable custody case against Kidman in their divorce, noted Us Weekly.

Earlier this month, the Church of Scientology mounted an attack against the documentary and Gibney with a five-page letter to The Hollywood Reporter with a detailed critique of the film.

"In two hours this film racks up more falsehoods, errors, embellished tales and blatant omissions than were committed by Rolling Stone, Brian Williams and Bill O'Reilly combined," said the letter. "By our calculation, the film on average includes at least one major error every two minutes."
