Lauren Conrad, former star of MTV's "Laguna Beach" and "The Hills," has banned the words skinny, slim and thin from her website as the 29-year-old fashion designer focuses on healthy living.

Conrad took to her site LaurenConrad.com to announce she was boycotting the words, calling them "body-shaming terms" that she believes make women feel bad about themselves, according to Us Weekly.

"When we've talked about getting in shape in the past, words like 'skinny,' 'slim,' and 'thin' have often come up. Starting this month, we'll be banning any body-shaming terms from the site, and replacing them with words like 'fit,' 'toned' and 'healthy,'" Conrad said on her website.

"We try doing to this for the most part anyway, but now we're making it official," Conrad added. "The word skinny will now be reserved for skinny jeans. My editorial team and I had a long talk about it, and we want to make sure that the focus is on being fit as opposed to a number on the scale. Every body is created differently — and healthy bodies come in all shapes and sizes."

Her announcement came as part of her June "shape up" theme on the website and includes fashion, food and beauty features, workouts and a guide to reading food labels.

Conrad's boycott of skinny, slim and thin immediately drew praise from some corners.

"(Conrad) is totally right: a healthy body doesn't always look one certain way, and we love that she's shifting the focus from getting 'skinny' to getting in shape, regardless of what size that may be," said MTV's Chrissy Mahlmeister.

Her website post received positive comments on social media.
