It wasn't known whether Prepon opted to leave or if her storyline dictated the move. Alex. Prepon's character, is a love interest of the main character, Taylor Schilling's Piper.
The show began filming the second season last month. The next chapter is due out sometime in 2014.
Beyond "Orange is the New Black," Prepon is best known for her role as Donna Pinciotti for all eight seasons of the Fox comedy, "That '70s Show." She played Hannah Daniels on the ABC drama "October Road," and has voiced characters in animated shows like "American Dad!" and "King of the Hill."
