Las Vegas Serial Shooter: 4 Victims in 9 Days

Las Vegas police are searching for the serial shooter responsible for gunning down four victims in nine days.

The shootings have resulted in two deaths and appear to be targeting the homeless, The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Departement said in a news release after the most recent victim, James Edgar Lewis, was shot dead while sleeping under a bridge on Feb. 2.

Video footage of the incident shows a man approach Lewis and fire two fatal shots at him from close range before fleeing the scene.

Police were later alerted to the incident but, upon their arrival at the scene of North 14th Street and US-95, found Lewis dead.

The three other incidents all took place on Jan. 29, with another homeless person being shot and killed in a similar manner while he was sleeping outside a business on West Washington Street.

Several hours later police were alerted to a second shooting in which a homeless man had to be rushed to hospital with a gunshot wound to the head, although the victim said he woke up with the injury and could not remember how it occurred.

Meanwhile, another person was wounded outside a convenience store in Logandale, Nevada, after a gunman approached the victim with his car and fired several rounds.

Surveillance camera footage shows what appears to be the same vehicle in all three shootings, police said. Now forensic analysis has linked the fourth incident as well.

Commenting on this, Capt. Robert Plummer said that the shooter either already was a serial killer or was "on the way to being one," CBS News reported.

The suspect is believed to be a white or Hispanic male who is about 6 feet tall and driving a 2016 or 2018 silver, gray or light blue Hyundai Tucson Sport Limited SUV, and Plummer said police were doing everything they could to track him down.

"We must stop this man before he shoots and kills someone else," he said, according to KTNV.

Lewis' daughter, Oneida Lewis Baker, spoke to ABC News about the death of her father, noting that she could not understand why he was homeless when he had a family willing to support him or why someone would kill him.

She said the shooter "doesn't deserve to have freedom," adding that she was "praying that he is caught" and that he "doesn't kill anybody else or even injure anybody else."
