"Seinfeld" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm" creator Larry David has advice for all the "idiots" out and about amid the coronavirus epidemic: He wants them to go home and watch TV. By not following social distancing, you are putting "old people" at risk, the 72-year-old comedian said in a public service announcement released Tuesday.
"Obviously, somebody put me up to this 'cause it's generally not the kind of thing I do, but I basically want to address the idiots out there — and you know who you are," David said in a video shared to Twitter by California Gov. Gavin Newsom's office. "You're going out — I don't know what you're doing. You're socializing too close, it's not good."
In his own inimitable style, David further stated that those not following protocols were putting the elderly at risk.
"You're hurting old people like me — well, not me. I have nothing to do with you. I'll never see you. But, you know, other — let's say, other old people who might be your relatives! Who the hell knows."
The star wondered why members of the public were not jumping at the opportunity to lounge around at home and binge-watch films and series.
"I don't know how you're passing that up!" David said. "Well, maybe 'cause you're not that bright. But here it is: go home! Watch TV! That's my advice to you."
David further urged viewers to stay put and not see anyone — unless it was for a plumbing emergency. "Let the plumber in," he said, then "wipe everything down after he leaves."
