Kim Kardashian West has channeled Jackie Kennedy in a shoot for her recent feature in Interview magazine’s September issue.
Titled “America’s New First Lady,” the article features photos of Kardashian West posing with her daughter, North West, in various outfits inspired by style icon Jackie Kennedy.
The interview was conducted by Janet Mock and depicts Kardashian West opening up about her struggle maintaining a work-life and motherhood balance. When asked her thoughts on raising mixed race children, West said:
“Kanye always has his family around and people who look like my daughter — that’s important to me. She’s obsessed with her curly hair, and if she finds someone who has the same hair, she runs to them and is like, ‘You have curly hair like me?’ And we get to talk about it,” the 35-year-old mother of two divulged. “We also talk about it with my niece Penelope, because she and North look really different, but they’re best friends and they’re together all the time.”
West’s 4-year-old daughter North, also featured in the shoot, is styled akin to her mother in 60s chic clothing. North was also interviewed for the feature, but by an all-star squad of Kaia Gerber, Millie Bobby Brown, Sean and Jayden Federline, and Penelope Disick (her cousin).
West raved about the unique mother-daughter experience, stating in a Twitter post that she would “treasure” the shoot forever.
West recently made headlines when she bought a watch from Jackie Kennedy’s collection at a private auction for a pricey $379, 000. To further the synchronicity between Kim and Kennedy, her famous musician husband, Kanye West, has hinted at a potential run for presidential office in 2020.
Interview magazine Instagrammed the cover photo for its September issue, and within hours it had already received mixed, but mostly negative, responses.
