Musician Kid Rock faces a backlash from animal rights activists after fellow rocker Ted Nugent posted a Facebook picture of them with a dead cougar earlier this month.
Both Kid Rock and Nugent smiled for the camera in the snow with what appeared to be the freshly killed cougar. The posting on on Nugent's Facebook page didn't indicate where or when the photo was taken.
According to The Huffington Post, Kid Rock has yet to comment on the photo in public or on social media as he prepares to release his next studio album "First Kiss," but others are talking.
"It's obvious that not everyone has evolved mentally and emotionally when you see someone grinning after gunning down another living being who was busy minding his or her own business and living life," Ben Williamson, senior international media director for People for the Ethically Treatment of Animals, told the New York Daily News.
"These days, only the very smallest percentage of people find it acceptable in any way to support blood sports like trophy hunting," said Williamson.
Some fans supported Kid Rock on Facebook,
according to The Mirror. The comment from one fans seemed to sum up others.
"For all of you putting in your two cents, please become educated on hunting and hunting licenses that are issued, tags that you must be drawn for, the limited season in which you can even hunt a given animal," the fan wrote. "And quit whining, for God sake. Love you, too, Ted Nugent. Btw, nothing wrong with a lil cougar now and then!"
Others on social media, though, weren't as supportive of the cougar kill.
