'Khaki Out': Harbaugh Will Be Wearing the Pants at Michigan

By    |   Tuesday, 30 Dec 2014 11:32 AM

Jim Harbaugh's khaki pants, the subject fun jabs by fans and his wife, will take over the University of Michigan student section during Tuesday's basketball game to honor the Wolverines' new football coach.

Harbaugh, a Michigan alumnus, has coached San Francisco 49ers for the past four seasons and led the team to the Super Bowl in 2013 where he lost to the Baltimore Ravens being coached by his brother John Harbaugh.

The Maize Rage, the Michigan basketball student section, requested on social media that its members show up in the earth-tone khakis Harbaugh has been known to wear on the sidelines during 49er football games, according to the Detroit News.

Harbaugh is expected to be introduced to the crowd during the 3 p.m. contest at Crisler Center against Illinois, per the News. Athletic officials were expecting a sellout.

Harbaugh's wife Sarah has had fun with Harbaugh's wardrobe with the help of a Dockers advertising campaign #StopDadPants, complete with a one-minute commercial featuring the football coach. The commercial has nearly one million views on YouTube.

In anticipation of Harbaugh's coaching change, Dockers tweeted photo of blue pants, Michigan's color.

The 49ers announced Monday that they had mutually parted ways with Harbaugh at the end of this season, noted ESPN, and Harbaugh reportedly will sign the richest college coaching contract in history with Michigan. He returns to the school where he was Big Ten player of the year at quarterback for the Wolverines and finished third in Heisman Trophy voting as a student-athlete.
