KFC 7-Foot Bucket, Sadly Without Chicken, Appears in Woman's Yard

When a Georgia woman saw a 7-foot KFC bucket sitting in her front yard, she wasn’t sure if she was hallucinating.

Aleena Headrick told local NBC TV station WAGT 26 that she drove by, saw the bucket, and called her teenagers who were inside to double-check that she wasn’t seeing things.

She wasn't. It was real.

Unfortunately, there was no fried chicken inside the bucket. Even so, Headrick saw how much attention the bucket was getting from passersby.

“Too often we just need something to laugh about and so I put it on Facebook and told them that I would bring chicken to the next potluck,” she told WAGT 26.

The TV station cleared up the origins of the huge KFC bucket.

Headrick’s house is owned by Freddie Taylor, a sign collector who bought the bucket and put it in front of the house, the station reported. Taylor pointed out that the bucket says Kentucky Fried Chicken instead of KFC, and said it’s probably 40 years old.

Taylor wants to leave the chicken bucket there, and Headrick seems to be on board, making jokes about adding a big pile of mashed potatoes near it.

Headrick told the TV station that she doesn’t mind having it near her house.

“We can just say, ‘come down to the giant KFC bucket and turn right,’” she said.

But while that huge bucket may not have had any fried chicken in its depths, the Headrick family will soon see that turn around, according to The Huffington Post. KFC is giving the family some free fried chicken.
