The Washington social circuit has generally embraced the Trump administration with wariness, but a few key members of the president's inner circle stand out: White House counselor Kellyanne Conway and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross and his wife, Hilary Geary Ross.

Conway, 51, is "charming, outgoing, and from several accounts, fun to be around," SFGate.com reports, adding that she "is one of the few White House officials regularly spotted at Washington parties."

Conway, a pollster who was President Donald Trump's campaign manager, has lived in the District for years — she and her husband, George, bought an $8 million mansion in Massachusetts Avenue Heights last spring — and "knows plenty of the political players."

A prominent Republican hostess told SFGate that Conway was "making a sincere effort" to interact with non-conservatives in the nation's capital.

"She rarely talks politics after dark and avoids confrontation at the dinner table," guests have told the site for its report.

In addition, some observers told SFGate that Conway is most likely to remain in Washington after a Trump White House ends — and is "quietly building relationships for the long game."

On the other end, the Rosses embody "the classic Washington model" of social custom, SFGate reports: "A high-profile administration couple welcomed with open arms and happy to dive in."

Ross, a longtime industrialist and investment banker, and Hilary, an author and society writer, were married in 2004, and arrived in Washington "after decades of A-list life" in New York and Palm Beach, Florida.

Their D.C. circle included, for example, longtime Republican hostesses Buffy Cafritz and Nancy Brinker, who helmed a ladies' lunch for Hilary last spring.

The outing was "one of several parties to welcome the couple" to the capital, SFGate reports.

The Rosses enjoy Washington's cultural and social life — and "they accept most invitations or host sit-down dinners at their Washington mansion, which is filled with priceless paintings from their Magritte collection."

Because they are older — Ross is 80 and Hilary in her late 60s — "the transition to the nation's capital was easy," SFGate reports.

They also have "a traditional approach to social engagement," including dinners, charities and benefits.

However, the Rosses "follow the unspoken social rules of this town," SFGate reports: "Political differences are expected, but no personal attacks.

"Be nice, be civil, be discreet, be above the fray."
