In an update on the confirmation process for U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, the Judicial Crisis Network has released a new round of ads totaling $1.5 million targeting red-state Democrats, the organization announced Monday.

The buys in West Virginia, North Dakota, Indiana, and Alabama mention each of the senators and question why they have not supported President Donald Trump's nominee. The senators include Joe Manchin in West Virginia, Heidi Heitkamp in North Dakota, Joe Donnelly, in Indiana, and Doug Jones in Alabama.

"Judge Kavanaugh is a fair and independent judge who bases his decisions on the Constitution, which is why President Trump nominated him and why a lopsided majority of voters in key states support his confirmation," Carrie Severino, chief counsel and policy director for the Judicial Crisis Network, said in a statement.

"Red state Democrats have a choice: stand with their constituents and support President Trump's extraordinarily qualified Supreme Court nominee or stand with Chuck Schumer and be a rubber stamp for the extreme liberal special interests," Severino continued.

Included in the ads is polling from North Star Opinion Research (Whit Ayres) that shows a majority of voters in each of the four states support confirming Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, JCN said.

Trump nominated Kavanaugh for the high court on July 9 on primetime television to replace Justice Anthony Kennedy, who was seen as a swing vote between conservative and liberal justices on several hot button Supreme Court decisions, CNN noted.

Kavanaugh, reportedly a favorite of White House Counsel Don McGahn, was interviewed by Trump on July 2, just days after Kennedy announced his retirement from the bench on June 27.

While leading Republican senators like Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley praised Kavanaugh, Democrats are questioning him over his possible stance on Roe v. Wade, the landmark Supreme Court ruling that legalized abortion, CNN noted.
