Katy Perry's Super Bowl costume was scanned by authorities for security reasons, like everything else, and this year's big game halftime entertainer promised reporters on Thursday there will be no wardrobe malfunctions during her show on Sunday.
Law enforcement officials told
ABC News on Thursday that because of a concern of lone wolf attacks during the Super Bowl, little is being left to chance as high-tech scanners are being used to make sure every is safe for game day, right down to Perry's costume.
"Katy Perry's stage came in last night," said Ronald Nunn, customs and border protection program manager. "We've got port-a-potties. We've got everything – food, hot dogs, hamburgers, the NFL paraphernalia, jerseys, everything."
Perry herself, known for her revealing and extravagant costumes during concerts – not to mention multiple costume changes – has concentrated on not having a miscue that plagued past performer Janet Jackson during the 2004 Super Bowl,
a source told HollywoodLife.com.
The term "wardrobe malfunction" is synonymous with Jackson's halftime performance in which the star's breast was shown briefly on live television while she was on stage with singer Justin Timberlake at Houston's Reliant Stadium,
reported Billboard magazine.
"All Katy's clothing is cute, colorful and contained," a source told the celebrity website. "Nothing is falling out at all. She has the goods on lock down."
Perry told reporters Thursday that all she wants Super Bowl viewers to remember about her show is the performance.
"It's going to be wild out there," Perry said at her Phoenix news conference. "I'm creating three of four different worlds. My entrance and exit are spectacular, the costumes are great, the music, I have a lot of songs to cover so there will be some medley of sorts. I've done lots of fittings, my motivation and objective is for people to be talking about the music the next day."
The Associated Press announced that Grammy-winning rapper Missy Elliott will perform with Perry during halftime. Elliott's performance is unannounced by the NFL and Perry would only say at her press conference that there will be an "old school" female singer joining her, noted The AP.
"When you hear the first ring of the chord," said Perry. "I think jaws will drop and faces will melt."
