Kate Winslet has joined the "Avatar" cast, reuniting with James Cameron for four planned "Avatar" sequels more than 20 years after "Titanic."

"Kate and I have been looking for something to do together for 20 years, since our collaboration on 'Titanic,' which was one of the most rewarding of my career,” Cameron said, Deadline reported. "I can’t wait to see her bring the character of Ronal to life."

Winslet won an Oscar for her performance in "The Reader" in 2008, and her next movie, "The Mountain Between Us," also starring Idris Elba, releases Friday.

Production for all four "Avatar" sequels is occurring at the same time and began Sept. 25 in Manhattan Beach, California, Deadline reported.

Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, and Stephen Lang will all return to their previous roles for the sequels, according to Variety.

Cameron said only two "Avatar" sequels were originally planned, but the material demanded that be expanded to four, Variety reported. It wasn’t clear how many of the sequels would feature Winslet, or whether she’d be a human or a Na’vi.

Reportedly, Cameron and Winslet’s relationship had been rocky in the past. Rolling Stone said Winslet nearly drowned several times making “Titanic,” and that there had been “lots and lots of yelling” at her from Cameron.

In 2012, however, Cameron said Winslet was trying to distance herself from the movie in order to avoid being typecast, and that he “had to cut her slack” for that, Moviefone reported.

Around the same time, Winslet defended Cameron by saying he only lost his temper on the set for very good reasons.
