Kelsey Grammer might forgive the man who raped and killed his sister nearly 40 years ago but that doesn’t mean he wants him released from prison.

The former "Frasier" star, 59, spoke via video cam from Denver, Colorado, at Freddie Glenn's Tuesday parole hearing in Buena Vista, according to the Denver Post.

Glenn, 57, was originally sentenced to death for the 1975 murder of Karen Elisa Grammer, whom officials say was kidnapped by Glenn and two others from a Red Lobster in Colorado Springs. Convicted in two other separate murders, Glenn is currently serving a life term after his sentence was commuted when the state did away with capital punishment.

"I want to believe you have actually changed your life," Grammer told Glenn Tuesday. "Things you say, I accept a lot of it. ... I accept that you live with remorse. But I live with tragedy every day."

Glenn explained that he was only 18 in 1975 and got caught up under the influence of a bad crowd.

But Grammer said he could not back the man's release from prison.

"I accept your apology. I forgive you," Grammer said. "However, I cannot give your release my endorsement. To give that a blessing would be a betrayal of my sister's life."

The parole board has not yet come to a decision about Glenn's fate.
