Kanye West announced on Wednesday that he is moving to Chicago and has no intention of leaving again, TMZ reported.
The rapper shared the news to a crowd that had gathered at an event with Chance the Rapper.
“I gotta let y'all know that I'm moving back to Chicago and I'm never leaving again,” West told audiences.
Twitter user @andyeezus posted a video of the crowd cheering moments after West made the announcement. He said it was the best day of his life to hear the rapper and producer was returning to Chicago, noting how West had changed his life.
The news came not as a complete as a surprise.
West lives in California with Kim Kardashian West and three children, in a Hidden Hills mansion which they purchased for a reported $20 million in 2014, People magazine reported. West showed off the house on social media recently, sparking rumors then that they were selling.
The couple reportedly have now agreed to keep the mansion.
Sources told TMZ that the couple found a home in Chi-Town, where West wants to establish a permanent residence.
They own multiple properties in Los Angeles and reportedly intend to keep them all.
