Julianna Margulies to Battle Former Managing Company in Court

Emmy Award-winning actress Julianna Margulies, star of CBS' "The Good Wife," is heading to court in a legal dispute with D/F Management over commission.

Margulies' former manager reportedly claimed in Los Angeles Superior Court that it was owed $420,000 in July 2012 after it negotiated a deal with L'Oreal cosmetics. After the actress' hit CBS drama was sold into syndication in March, D/F Management revised the claim to target millions of dollars for D/F's 10 percent cut of her earnings, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Margulies, though, claims to have fired D/F on April 29, 2011.

The judge moved the trial date from October to January after Margulies' attorneys cited her "The Good Wife" shooting schedule. Margulies lawyers initially wanted a six-month delay but D/F Management objected, stating that she was "seeking delay at every turn," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In June, Margulies failed to get the lawsuit dismissed, with her attorneys saying it was "meritless." Her attorneys told Deadline.com they still believed Margulies would prevail.

"We are disappointed that the Court believed issues of fact prevented it from dismissing the case at this point when the case is a dispute between New York residents and when New York law would clearly not permit it to go forward,"  her attorneys said in June. "In any event, none of our defenses, including the statute of frauds, have been eliminated from the case and we remain confident that D/F’s claims will be shown to be meritless.”

D/F Management has represented such clients as Willem Dafoe, Michelle Monaghan, Sarah Polley, Frances McDormand, and Benjamin Bratt.

"We are pleased, but not surprised, by the court's thoughtful and well-reasoned ruling that rejected Ms. Margulies' effort to dismiss the case," D/F lawyer Matthew Rosengart told Deadline.com on the June ruling. "My clients are disappointed that Ms. Margulies reneged on her agreement to pay them commissions in connection with 'The Good Wife,' among other things, and we look forward to the trial in October."

Margulies was a costar in the 1990s hit "ER," where she won an Emmy for best supporting actress in a drama. She won a best actress Emmy in 2011 and a Golden Globe in 2010 for her performance on "The Good Wife."
