Josh Groban has obtained a five-year restraining order against an obsessed fan who sent him a series of sexually explicit messages and disturbing packages to his doorstep.
Shawna Marie Laing has reportedly been harassing and threatening the singer since 2011, forcing him to seek a temporary restraining order against her, Page Six reported. That order, which prohibits Laing from contacting Groban or coming within 100 yards of him, his family and his girlfriend, has now been extended until August 27, 2025.
Groban met Laing in 2011, through a mutual Facebook friend, and the two made arrangements to meet one another, but their plans fell through when the "You Raise Me Up" singer fell ill. After their missed meeting, Laing allegedly would not leave Groban alone. He eventually told her they could never meet but it did not deter Laing.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, she sent him a slew of sexually graphic and intimidating messages. In one instance she wrote: "You wanna try honoring the home we're going to have children in by not f---ing other women in it."
In another instance, she messaged Groban claiming to have visited his house.
"Put on a little bit of makeup in case I got caught, also wore pants with a hole in the crotch for the same reasons," she wrote.
Laing also sent Groban a package that consisted of a small skull and several sexually explicit handwritten notes.
