More than 40 years have passed since "Grease" took the world by storm, but the chemistry between John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John is still there.
They have stayed in touch over all those years and this was evident when they reunited at the "Meet n' Grease" movie sing-along events held recently in three Florida cities.
Reliving that day, Travolta spoke about his solid friendship with Newton-John at a fundraising event on Saturday.
"I think we love each other and when you love someone you stay in touch," he said, according to Fox News.
The past few weeks have been sentimental for the two in wake of Newton-John's ongoing battle with cancer, which has now spread to her bones, but Travolta remains positive about the situation.
"Olivia is a survivor and she’s smart and she’s got a lot of life in her," he continued. "I think she looks at it from the glass half full, always, and that’s her beautiful, natural approach toward life and I think we all need to do that."
Despite her struggles, Newton-John stole the limelight as she reprised her role as Sandy in December at the "Grease" events.
Cardigans and leather jackets were dusted off as the stars took to the stage to engage with fans and sing a few lines from the movie's smash hit songs. A few secrets were also spilled at the Jacksonville leg of the mini-tour.
"I’m not shy about this. I was in love with Olivia," Travolta admitted to the crowd, according to Forbes.
Circumstances did not align and the two never did become a couple, but as time passed that love took on a different meaning as they became close friends instead.
"Once you love someone, you don’t unlove them," Travolta added. "You love them forever."
