The holiday prank war between Jimmy Kimmel and John Krasinski has escalated to North Pole proportions.

The late-night talk show host and former star of "The Office" are neighbors, and have routinely played jokes on each other. As Kimmel told Wednesday's audience, Krasinski and his wife, actress Emily Blunt, once set up a light-up Santa Claus and snowman, and put a Star of David outside Kimmel's bedroom. In response, Kimmel bought a light-up insurance sign and placed it on Krasinski's front wall.

But Kimmel really spread the holiday cheer this year.

With the help of Hewlett-Packard, a 15-man crew, and eight trucks filled with holiday decorations, Kimmel transformed the couple's home into a winter scene that would make Kris Kringle himself jealous.

"We brought in trains and fake candy canes," Kimmel said on the show. "We wrapped more than 200 fake gifts; we covered the trees with giant lights and bows and snowflakes. We brought in giant toy soldiers, we brought in fake snow and ornaments. We wrapped the doors. We wrapped the windows. We gift-wrapped every inch of the house. We even set up a snow machine, and it took seven hours but it was beautiful."

Cameras captured Krasinski's return home, as he realized what was happening. When Guillermo Rodriguez, Kimmel's sidekick, emerged from one of the gifts, Krasinski was even more startled.

"Oh God, I almost threw up," Krasinski said in a video aired on Kimmel's show. "Jimmy, I had no idea this was you because no one has ever done anything like this but you. I hate you. I love you, and thank you for this."

Krasinski lamented that he wouldn't be able to top this prank, but vowed revenge, with Guillermo's help.

Kimmel's pranks don't end with Krasinski. Actor Matt Damon has long been a target, with Damon pretending not be in on the joke.

In September, Kimmel announced he was behind an uploaded YouTube video that showed a woman's legs catching fire while "twerking." The video received hundreds of thousands of views and was reported on by major news networks.

Also, every Halloween, Kimmel invites viewers to trick their children into believing they ate all their candy, then film and upload their reactions.
