Joel Taylor of “Storm Chasers” died unexpectedly on Tuesday while aboard a cruise ship, a representative for his family confirmed to CNN.

“We can confirm that Joel Taylor has passed away while on a cruise,” said funeral director Richard Duggar II in a statement, adding that “the cause of the death has not yet been determined.”

Taylor''s body was discovered inside the cabin of a Royal Caribbean cruise ship and law enforcement were notified and responded to the ship when it arrived on Tuesday in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Owen Torres, manager of global corporate communications for Royal Caribbean Cruises, told NBC News.

“We extend our most sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the 38-year-old male guest from the United States who died while onboard Harmony of the Seas,” he said.

Fox News reported that, on the night of Taylor's death, the ship held a special event which saw “Grease” star Olivia Newton-John and Swedish DJ duo Galantis take to the stage.

Ricardo Castrodad, a public affairs officer for the Coast Guard’s San Juan sector, confirmed to Time that the Coast Guard had been notified about a death aboard the Harmony of Seas and that an investigation had since been opened.

Taylor’s body is currently undergoing autopsy at the Instituto de Ciencias Forenses, Karixia Ortiz and although a cause of death can only be confirmed once the results have been released, police said foul play was not suspected, NBC reported.

News of Taylor’s death was first made public by his best friend and former co-star Reed Timmer, who posted a heartfelt message to social media.

The two friends worked alongside one another on “Storm Chasers” for several years before the reality TV show was canceled in 2012.
