Steve Jobs' Home Burglarized

By    |   Tuesday, 14 August 2012 02:13 PM EDT

A California man has been arrested and charged with burglarizing the home of the late Silicon Valley icon Steve Jobs, according to the Santa Clara County Deputy District Attorney Tom Flattery.

More than $60,000 worth of "computers and personal items" were allegedly stolen from the Palo Alto home of the Apple co-founder, who died last year at 56, the Contra Costa Times reported Tuesday.

Officials would not say whether the stolen items had belonged to Jobs or another family member.

According to the Times, Karlem McFarlin, 35, from Alameda, was arrested on August 2 on suspicion of burglarizing the home on July 17 and selling the stolen property. But Flattery told the Times that McFarlin, who remains in jail, is expected to enter a plea bargain agreement on Aug. 20. He faces up to eight years in prison.

Flattery said McFarlin was apparently unaware of the home’s significance.

“The best we can tell [the robbery] was totally random," he said.
