Jimmy Kimmel made an emotional appearance on the "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" when the host surprised him with a heartfelt tribute to his 10-month-old son, Billy Kimmel, who was born with a congenital heart disease and has had to undergo two surgeries.

During Tuesday's episode, DeGeneres revealed how she had named a room in the Heart Institute at Children's Hospital Los Angeles after Billy Kimmel, Entertainment Tonight reported.

The hospital is where Jimmy Kimmel's son underwent heart surgery. DeGeneres also revealed a campaign to raise $1 million for the Children's Hospital Los Angeles.

Billy Kimmel had his first emergency open-heart surgery when he was just three-days-old and then a second procedure in December.

Jimmy Kimmel has used the ordeal with his son to speak out on the national healthcare debate, making his show a platform to campaign for the rights of families to have access to medical care.

DeGeneres applauded him for this on Tuesday.

"Everything you're doing on the show — you're using your voice for good, and you're saying a lot of important things," she said, according to People.

"You're such a great guy, and that was so emotional, to see you go through that. You get very emotional, and I love that about you."

She then told Jimmy Kimmel about the dedication at Children's Hospital LA.

"We have named one of the rooms of the Heart Institute floor in honor of Billy," DeGeneres said, per The Daily Mail.

"That will forever be the Billy Kimmel room."

Fighting back the tears, Jimmy Kimmel thanked DeGeneres.

"It means a lot to me," he said.
