Jill Scott, the singer who has been a fierce defender of Bill Cosby all along, withdrew her support from the comedian on Monday after previously sealed testimony from a 2005 sexual assault case against Cosby came to light earlier in the day.

Scott, along with Whoopi Goldberg and other famous faces, stood up to defend Cosby in the wake of the flurry of allegations last year from more than 25 women who claimed Cosby had sexually assaulted them, according to Fox News.

In a series of tweets on Monday, Scott voiced her extreme disappointment after hearing that Cosby admitted in the court documents to purchasing Quaaludes with the intention of giving them to women with whom he hoped to have sex, according to CNN.

“About Bill Cosby. Sadly his own testimony offers PROOF of terrible deeds, which is ALL I have ever required to believe the accusations," Scott posted on Twitter.

“1) We live in America. Many African American men are detained &/or imprisoned for crimes without evidence. I will never jump on bandwagons 2) based on social media or hearsay. Proof will always matter more than public opinion. The sworn testimony is proof. Completely disgusted," she continued.

Despite Scott’s public withdrawal of her support after the documents’ release on Monday, Goldberg staunchly stood by her defense of Crosby, saying that the various women’s allegations still have not been proven.

“As more information comes out, people can make judgments. I don’t like snap judgments,” Goldberg said, according to Fox News. “Save your texts; save your nasty comments. I don’t care. I say this because this is my opinion, and in America, still, I know it’s a shock, but you are still innocent until proven guilty. He has not been proven.”

Cosby, a spokesperson for topics such as family, crime, and accountability for black men in America, initially did not want the court documents to be released because they would publicly “embarrass” him for a case that had already been settled, according to The Huffington Post. The documents were only released when Cosby “voluntarily narrowed the zone of privacy that he is entitled to claim,” according to his lawyer.
