A Jews vs. Nazis beer pong game got several Atlanta students suspended from their private school after a photo of the event appeared online.

Five students at Lovett School in Atlanta were suspended and one expelled after participating in the game at an off-campus house, the New York Daily News reported.

The image shows the students standing by a table that held cups of beer placed in the shape of a Jewish star and a Nazi swastika. The school’s headmaster was alerted to the incident by Rabbi Peter Berg, WSB-TV reported.

The five students in the photograph were suspended, and the student who had set up the game and snapped the image was expelled.

"The fact that someone could even conceive of such a game, and then play it and think it’s funny is beyond words," Berg said, according to WSB-TV.

He added that the community and country needed to wrap it’s mind around the issue of hate speech in general in order to understand how horrifying the image was to Jewish people.

A spokesperson of the school later sent an email to WSB-TV, stating that "character education is at the heart of all we do at Lovett, and we deeply appreciate the individuals and organizations across our community who are helping us to continue to learn and grow from this very troubling incident."

Lovett headmaster William S. Peebles circulated an email to parents on Sunday, in which he said officials did not believe there was malice or prejudice in the hearts of the students partaking in the game, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
