"Jersey Shore" is returning on MTV, but the hard-partying gang that created ratings and controversy for the channel will have more of a family vibe.

"Jersey Shore Family Vacation" is scheduled to air sometime next year and will return many of the original cast members, including Deena Nicole Cortese, Paul "Pauly D" Delvecchio," Jenni "JWOWW" Farley, Vinny Guadagnino, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi and Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino, CNN reported.

Polizzi, who now has two children, shared a short teaser trailer which aired Monday night promoting the reunion show. The teaser was shown during the series premiere of "Floribama Shore," according to the website Vulture.

"Jersey Shore" premiered in 2009 and was a staple on MTV for six seasons, Entertainment Weekly said.

CNN said one of the stars from the original show, Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola, doesn’t seem ready to rejoin the fun. Giancola, who owns her own online boutique, had an on-again, off-again relationship with Ortiz-Magro, but recently said the relationship is permanently over.

The E! Network brought the "Jersey Shore" cast together for a documentary that aired in August, according to People magazine.

Fans of the series showed varying levels of excitement on social media.
