Talk show host Julie Chen has taken a swipe at ABC for hiring former Playboy playmate Jenny McCarthy to co-host "The View" after Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselbeck exited the show.

“What put them on the map and made them good and famous, they don’t do that anymore,” she said Wednesday on Howard Stern’s radio show, where she was a guest with Sharon Osbourne, according to E! online. “No one wants to hear Jenny McCarthy talk about the New York mayoral race or politics. They don’t. That’s not what you put Jenny McCarthy on for.”

McCarthy joined Barbara Walters, Sherri Shepherd, and Whoopi Goldberg on the show a few months ago. Chen, who is a co-host and moderator on CBS’s "The Talk," added that bringing McCarthy in was an attempt at "trying to lighten the mood at the table — more gossip, more fun, more laughs ... what happened was, in my opinion, 'The View' doesn’t know what it is now.”

It’s not the first time a host from "The Talk" criticized her counterparts on "The View." Osbourne had said in an earlier talk with Arsenio Hall that all of those on "The View" except Walters "can go f— themselves."

She later said on "The Talk" that she regretted her remarks.

“I want to apologize to Jenny, Sherri and Whoopi, who are all accomplished, self-made women who have had amazing careers,” she said.

But Chen and Osbourne aren’t the only ones who have criticized McCarthy. The Daily Beast, which called McCarthy brassy and funny, has nonetheless lashed out at the actress for her controversial views on vaccinations and autism. “Perhaps more than anyone — even the man credited with spearheading the anti-vaccination movement, Andrew Wakefield — McCarthy has been instrumental in pushing the notion that chemicals in the vaccines cause autism,” The Daily Beast wrote.

“It’s working. The anti-vaccination movement has helped drive down the number of people who are getting their kids vaccinated, and in turn, spreading disease. A recent measles epidemic in Wales in the U.K. last April, which infected over 2,000 people, was pinned to the anti-vaccination movement.”

McCarthy joined “The View” on Sept. 9. “I’m so grateful to be here,” the New York Daily News quoted her as saying at the time. “This is the greatest show in the world. Thanks to the fans who supported me to get here. I hope I do you justice.”
