Bill Murray is not dating indie rocker Jenny Lewis, despite recent reports.
The New York Post’s Page Six reported Tuesday night that Lewis, Murray's "special friend" and "current younger love interest," was among those who partied the night away at his "Rock the Kasbah" blowout in Manhattan.
The photographic evidence confirmed Lewis' presence at the big bash, which was also attended by Lady Gaga, Taylor Kinney, Kate Hudson, Naomi Campbell, and Zooey Deschanel.
The Daily Beast spoke with a source in Lewis’ camp the following day, however, and the rumor was dispelled.
"They’re NOT dating," said the source. "They’re friends."
From various reports, it appears that Murray, 65, and Lewis, 39, have been friends since at least 2008, when they were seen paling around backstage at one of her concerts. They also attended a basketball game together in 2010 and were spotted this year at the 20th Anniversary Poets House Bridge Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge.
It has also been reported that Lewis will make a cameo in Murray's upcoming Netflix special, "A Very Murray Christmas." It's being directed by Sofia Coppola, who worked with Murray on the movie "Lost in Translation," and will also include George Clooney, Miley Cyrus, Amy Poehler, and Chris Rock.
In addition to fronting the band Rilo Kiley and releasing a number of critically acclaimed solo records, Lewis also has a number of acting credits from her childhood days. She was in the Lucille Ball sitcom "Life With Lucy," and starred opposite Angelina Jolie in "Foxfire."
