Jennifer Lopez's performance at the World Cup's opening ceremony in Sao Paulo, Brazil, this week was hit by a technical glitch that temporarily trapped the singer in a hole.
Cosmopolitan magazine said that on top of that, the entire performance was "plagued with technical nightmares," including a distracting echo effect that threw off the singer's timing, and an unceremonious exit that might not have been in the original plan.
The performance kicked off with a field full of dancers, drummers, and mascots all reveling in this year's official Fifa World Cup Song, "We Are One (Ole Ola)." J-Lo and Cuban-American rapper Pitbull were set to emerge in the middle of the stage to join Brazilian singer Claudia Leitte,

The trap-door platform that was supposed to elevate the duo, however, seemed to falter half-way up. Jenny from the Block and Pitbull looked a bit confused by what was happening, but, being professionals, kept singing and greeting the crowd with just their torsos and heads sticking out of the stage. The platform then appeared to go up and down a few times, getting stuck in the same spot.
Finally, Pitbull worked up the gumption to pull himself out of the hole, at which time the platform rose just enough for him to reach back and help J-Lo, who was wearing sheer silver heels.

The Huffington Post, agreed that Lopez looked stunning in her green getup, but also commented on Pitbull's dorky choice to tuck his yellow jersey into a pair of white pants without even putting on a belt.
Lopez had previously canceled the performance following her breakup from Casper Smart but, in the end, she did make it to Brazil for the performance. Before the show her and Pitbull posted several pictures to their social media accounts to get people excited.
