Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner trekked to Garner's hometown of Charleston, W.Va., to have their son baptized in her family's place of worship, Christ Church United Methodist, over the weekend.

According to People.com, the couple also took out time to celebrate their eighth wedding anniversary on Saturday.

"He's really cute," People.com said one church member told them about the couple's 16-month-old son Samuel. "He was wearing little blue overalls. He kept trying to high-five the pastor as he was getting baptized."

The baptism ceremony included the whole Affleck-Garner clan, noted People.com – Ben, 40; Jennifer, 41; daughters Violet, 7; and Seraphina, 4, along with Samuel.

Unnamed sources told Yahoo News' Cover Media details of a happy event with everyone full of smiles.

"Violet was very well-behaved," one attendee told Cover Media. "Seraphina was funny – she was running around, and Ben had to keep getting up to run after [her]."

Another observer mentioned to Cover Media that Affleck was wearing a fitted suit while Garner wore a white dress.

Cover Media reported that the couple later shared a meal at Pies & Pints Pizzeria, on Capitol Street downtown near the Kanawha River, where they ate pizza and salad with beer. Afterward, Affleck tipped six employees "like $100 each," stated Cover Media.

"They were so cute, holding hands and kissing each other," Robyn Brammer said to Cover Media. "She had her hand on his leg. They were really affectionate."

Pies & Pints owner Rob Lindeman told Cover Media that the restaurant was a regular local stop for Affleck and Garner.

"Ben and Jen like to drop in when they're in town," Pies & Pints owner Rob Lindeman told the website. "They're just really solid people. They seemed like they were having a great time."

Garner said in a USA Today interview posted June 18 she probably should give thanks to the Boston Red Sox for winning the 2004 World Series for her family and the baptism indirectly.

"If they hadn’t won that year, I don’t think I’d be married with three kids," Garner said in the interview. "Because I think I would have been considered a jinx. Boston fans are pretty serious about superstition. They really think they can control it by what shirt they wear and where they sit — the whole thing."
