Pioneering CBS correspondent Jeanne Parr, the mother of "The Good Wife" actor Christopher Noth, died last Friday at 92.

Parr became one of the first news correspondents for CBS, establishing herself on air in the 1960s, covering the Republican National Convention in San Francisco in 1964 and the Newark/New York riots in 1967, People magazine reported.

"My mother lived fiercely with courage and love," Noth said to People. "She never accepted anything less than her dreams. And she wanted those same qualities for her children. She lived long and died surrounded by those she loved and who loved her."

In 1978, Parr launched her own talk show on CBS, "The Jeanne Parr Show." She appeared twice on the popular game show "What's My Line?" She was a contestant in 1960 and a guest panelist in 1966.

A native of Madison, Wisconsin, she appeared on the cover of Life magazine in 1948 at age 24 with her son Charles Noth in the backyard of her parents' home. The magazine cover story focused on the best places to live in the United States, Madison.com reported in 2008.

"We all have fond memories of Madison and our mutual health and well-being goes back to the fact that we were all born and lived there in our early years," Parr told Madison.com about her hometown in 2008.

Parr first worked at the local radio and television station WKOW before continuing her career in New Haven, Connecticut. She did weather on the "Jim Jensen Show" before becoming a regular correspondent for CBS News.

After her time in front of the camera, Parr went on to write the book "The Superwives," which focused on the spouses of outstanding athletes, and also produced documentaries.

Another long-time CBS veteran, "60 Minutes" correspondent Morley Safer died May 19 after more than four decades on the air, the network reported.
