Ivanka Trump and Chelsea Clinton, daughters of perhaps two of the biggest names in the 2016 presidential race, are actually very good friends despite their parents exchanging barbs on the campaign trail.
"The longtime friendship between Chelsea Clinton and Ivanka Trump is one of those phenomena of life among the fabulously wealthy and ridiculously famous that can be tough to fathom for the rest of us," the Los Angeles Times reported.
"These families that are publicly positioned as rivals have a history together, not all of it acrimonious. The Donald's unapologetic opportunism and the knack of the Clintons for charming even ideological opposites who happen to have deep pockets seem to have brought them close."
Ivanka Trump's friendly feelings for Chelsea Clinton could be spotted in a Twitter post the younger Trump sent out June 4, quoting the former first daughter.
Chelsea Clinton, too,
spoke highly of Trump in a February Vogue story.
"She's always aware of everyone around her and ensuring that everyone is enjoying the moment," Clinton said. "It's an awareness that in some ways reminds me of my dad, and his ability to increase the joy of the room. There's nothing skin-deep about Ivanka. And I think that's a real tribute to her because certainly anyone as gorgeous as she is could have probably gone quite far being skin-deep."
The Los Angeles Times article pointed out that both, though, are also quite loyal to their famous parents, leaving in question how the current campaigns might affect their relationship.
"Our father, Donald J. Trump is a true visionary and a great mentor. He is a brilliant negotiator with a proven track record of getting things done,"
Ivanka Trump said in a joint statement to People magazine Tuesday along with her brothers Donald Jr. and Eric. "Most importantly, he is an incredible dad and role model. He raised us to work hard and strive for excellence in all that we do."
Chelsea Clinton has also spoken in
support of her mother Hillary Clinton, noted Fusion.net.
"I'm so grateful my mom is my mom and I'm her daughter,” she said in March at the Clinton Global Initiative University in Miami. "And I know she's always made the right decisions for herself in our family and in our country."
