Austin will unveil "It" in a screening for clowns only next month, when local theater Alamo Drafthouse screens the horror film on Sept. 9, but only for those dressed up as clowns.

There will also be a "Barrel O' Fun" pre-party where attendees can have their clown makeup touched up by face painters, and even be treated to raffles and giveaways, the theater announced.

This clowns-only screening is one of various eccentric events hosted by the Alamo Drafthouse, which includes "drag queen bingo" and even wrestling in the cinema.

Earlier this year the theater was met with some controversy after it hosted a women-only screening of "Wonder Woman."

Members of the public took to social media to air their grievances, with one Facebook user asking the theater when they would have a guys-only screening of Thor, Spider-Man and Star Wars.

The post drew hundreds of comments. Amid the complaints and praises, one user’s post in which he asked if there would be a "male-only screening for 'Thor: Ragnarok' or a special screening for 'It' that's only for those who identify as clowns," is likely what sparked the clowns-only screening of "It."

"We might actually have to steal that clown idea. Thanks Ryan," Alamo Drafthouse Austin replied, and, several weeks later, the theater is running with Ryan’s idea.

The 2017 remake of "It," which is based upon the Stephen King novel and premiers on Sept. 8, has cracked the nod from film critics who have said the film promises to be creepy.

According to EW, Fandango’s Erik Davis described the upcoming movie as "creepy, bloody, super funny, adorably romantic and hands down among my favorite movies of the year."

Others have deemed "It" as "a carnival funhouse of a film," "spooktacular," and "totally terrifying, but also amazing fun."
