IHOP's name is changing after 60 years of trading as the International House of Pancakes, and the company is encouraging customers to get in on the fun of guessing what the new title, IHOb, stands for.

"For 60 pancakin’ years, we’ve been IHOP," the chain restaurant tweeted Wednesday. "Now, we’re flippin’ our name to IHOb. Find out what it could b on 6.11.18."

The post has sparked fierce debate as thousands hop onto the social media platform to take part in discussions about what the mystical 'b' in the name change could stand for.

IHOP, or IHOb as it is currently referring to itself as, even launched an online poll in which Twitter users could guess whether the 'b' stood for biscuits, bacon, butternut squash or barnacles and at the moment it seems as if bacon and barnacles are the two most popular choices.

"Buns. Where's the buns option?" a user asked the chain, to which it replied that the options were endless.

Another user pitched the idea of burritos, however the chain dismissed this.

Soon the post was flooded with suggestions that grew increasingly strange as the thread progressed.

From "brunch" to "breasts" and "bees," the comments kept pouring in but the pancake chain remained elusive.

It is unclear whether the name change would be permanent but IHOP rep Stephanie Peterson confirmed to Fox News that it is taking place.

"Right now, we’re keeping mum on the extent of the name change, but I can tell you that it’s tied to news we’ll be making on Monday and reflects how serious we are about a new launch for the brand," Peterson said.

IHOP is known for its quirky marketing gimmicks, which seem to be very effective at driving a message home.

In 2015, when the chain turned 57 years old, it ran an offer in which it was selling 57-cent pancake short stacks for a limited time.

IHOP also made headlines when it celebrated National Pancake Day by giving away free pancakes with the goal of raising $3.5 million for charity.
