An Idaho gunman faces three counts of first-degree murder after he went on a shooting rampage that killed his adoptive mother, his landlord, and a family friend over the weekend.

John Lee, 29, went to three different locations, shooting and killing three people and wounding one other, in Moscow, Idaho, Saturday, and then led police on a 25-mile chase before being captured, USA Today reported.

Lee allegedly shot his adoptive mother, 61-year-old Terri Grzebielski, at home and then drove to Northwest Mutual Life Insurance, where he shot 76-year-old David Trail, who was apparently his landlord, USA Today said. There, he also wounded Michael Chin, who was in critical condition. Lee will be charged with attempted murder in Chin's shooting; it appears he didn’t know Chin, who is from Seattle, Washington, and was meeting with Trail.

After that, he's accused of driving to a local Arby’s restaurant where he asked for the manager, and then shot her. Belinda Niebuhr, 47, later died at the hospital, USA Today said. Although Lee’s connection to her was unknown, it has been speculated that she was a good friend of his parents.

The Associated Press reported that police are unsure of a motive, but hope Lee’s laptop will offer an idea as to why he went on the shooting rampage.

After the high-speed chase that resulted in Lee's capture, police recovered five guns from his vehicle, along with the computer, the AP said. They were two semi-automatic pistols, a revolver, a shotgun, and a rifle. Police said they are confident the gun he used in the attacks was among them.

Lee received minor injuries during the chase when his car flipped end over end after he lost control, the AP said.

Lee had just recently returned to Moscow after living elsewhere for a few years.
