"It's me or the dogs," a fed-up husband told his wife of 25 years, so she picked the animals and gave him the boot.

That was 18 months ago and Liz Haslam has not spoken to her husband Mike since, despite the fact that the two share a 22-year-old son together, People magazine noted.

"I thought after 25 years, he should know giving up the dogs was not what my intentions were," the Suffolk, England, resident said.

Liz Haslam has been an animal lover her whole life so when she married Mike in 1991, it was something that was deeply ingrained in her.

Seven years ago, the couple moved into a farmhouse with half an acre of land and she decided to open up a pet boarding business, which expanded into Bedsforbullies, a sanctuary for bullterriers.

Eighteen months on and her husband had enough.

"He kept saying 'I do not want to be doing this, I want to get a passport and go away.'" she said, according to The Express.

"I said that isn’t going to happen so we might as well go our separate ways, which we did."

Liz Haslam decided to continue with her organization, however, she was recently handed an eviction notice from her landlord and is now forced to try and find a new home for herself and her growing group of rescue dogs.

According to a GoFundMe page that has been set up in an attempt to raise money for the relocation, Bedsforbullies is currently home to 16 rescued dogs and is providing them with a "safe home for the rest of their lives as they need ongoing specialized care."

"I have taken them in to look after them, I save dogs from all around the world that have been shot and badly injured," Liz Haslam said, according to The Express.

Pitbulls are often portrayed as a vicious breed and as a result can be vulnerable to being attacked, abused and neglected.

Many are trying to dispel this stereotype including New Hampshire couple Marlon and Lisa Grennan, who own the massive Pitbull Hulk, which has become an internet sensation.

Liz Haslam also hopes to smash down these barriers and help the breed, but at the moment her focus is now on helping herself.

"I have re-homed so many dogs and now I am looking for a home. But I have chosen to do this. I love it," she said, according to The Express.
