Human Ken Dies After Brief Cancer Battle; Brazilian Looked Just Like Doll

The Human Ken Doll, a Brazilian celebrity named Celso Santebañes, died Thursday after a five-month battle with leukemia. He was 21 years old.

"When he was starting to fulfil his dreams, he discovered his illness and his dreams were interrupted. He had plans but God had others," said his father, Celia Borges, The Mirror U.K. reported.

Santebañes reportedly spent nearly $50,000 on plastic surgeries to make himself look like the popular children's doll after he won a modeling contest at the age of 16. In the intervening years, he had four operations on his nose, chin, and jaw, as well as silicone chest implants.

As the Human Ken Doll, Santebañes said he charged up to $16,000 for appearances at events, product launches, parties, and more.

As his status grew, he was also invited on celebrity talk shows in Brazil, and even launched his own branded doll named Celso in Los Angeles.

"I've cried . . . I see my world collapsed, I do not want anyone to pity me, just pray for me and respect me," he wrote on Instagram in Portuguese upon receiving his diagnosis.

"Today I start a new cycle of my life. I am starting chemotherapy and I admit I'm a little concerned about some side effects, like hair loss, nausea, my body's rejection [of chemotherapy], among other things, but I am no longer concerned with the issue of aesthetics. For me that doesn't matter. What matter is my health now, and I will fight for it."
