Production on a final season of “House of Cards” has restarted with the addition of two Academy Award nominees, following the months-long disruption of the political thriller by ex-star Kevin Spacey’s sexual behavior allegations, Variety reported.

The show was put on ice in October after CNN revealed the accusations of sexual harassment and inappropriate sexual misconduct against Spacey in two reports, one of which included accounts by employees working on the set of “House of Cards.”

Netflix and Media Rights Capital announced Spacey’s departure and during the hiatus producers have been rewriting the sixth and final season to exclude him, The Hollywood Reporter said.

The new season will feature eight episodes and see Academy Award winners Diane Lane and Greg Kinnear join the cast of Robin Wright, Michael Kelly, Jayne Atkinson, Patricia Clarkson, Constance Zimmer, Derek Cecil, Campbell Scott and Boris McGiver.

According to The Independent, Lane is best known for her roles in films “Unfaithful,” “Under The Tuscan Sun” and “Must Love Dogs,” while Kinnear currently stars in Philip K. Dick's “Electric Dreams,” and has also appeared in films including “Little Miss Sunshine,” “As Good As It Gets” and “You've Got Mail.”

Lane was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar for "Unfaithful" and Kinnear for Supporting Actor for the 1997 film 's.'

Producers have been tight lipped with regards to their roles in the show, but Variety reported that they will play siblings.

“House of Cards” has done exceptionally well for Netflix, having received nominations for 53 Emmys to date, NBC reported, but the series took a knock with the Spacey debacle.

Netflix's chief content officer Ted Sarandos said last month he was grateful to be able to have reached a deal to ensure the show would run for another season.
