The production hiatus of Netflix show “House of Cards” will continue beyond its initial deadline to Dec. 8, according to an email letter to crew members Sunday.

The show has been on hiatus since allegations of sexual misconduct were made against its star Kevin Spacey by a number of men, including actor Anthony Rapp. Spacey said he did not remember the incident Rapp said happened when he was 14, but Spacey apologized for the behavior if it did occur.

Some members of the show’s crew are among Spacey’s accusers, the show’s production company Media Rights Capital told ABC News.

Spacey was fired from the series, but show producers would like "House of Cards" to finish its sixth season without him.

The letter said crew members would be paid during the hiatus and that producers were working with Netflix to find a way to resume production, ABC reported.

The show had announced the sixth season would be its last before the accusations against Spacey came to light.

"These last two months have tested and tried all of us in ways none of us could have foreseen," the letter said, ABC reported. "The one thing we have learned throughout this process is that this production is bigger than just one person and we could not be more proud to be associated with one of the most loyal and talented production cast and crews in this business."

Writers and some office staff will continue to work during the hiatus, the letter also said.

Many on Twitter hoped "House of Cards" would go on, with or without Spacey.
