A Texas man wrote a negative review and ended up getting arrested – because he went too far.

The man, who reportedly threatened an "active shooter style" event in his review of a hotel in Cocoa Beach, Florida, was arrested Saturday morning after stepping off a cruise ship at Port Canaveral, the Space Coast Daily reported.

Unhappy with his recent stay at the Hilton Cocoa Beach Oceanfront Hotel, Joseph Lee McKinney, 40, decided to send off a scathing electronic guest review to management in which he allegedly threatened violence.

"Some of us are heavily armed and mentally ill and on the verge of snapping," read the review, according to the Miami Herald.

The complaint further contained threatening language that made reference to an ‘active shooter style’ event at the hotel.

Upon receiving the written threats on Friday, employees alerted police, who stayed overnight at the hotel until they were able to track McKinney aboard the cruise ship.

The disgruntled hotel guest was detained as soon as he disembarked, and charged with written threats to kill, do bodily injury or conduct a mass shooting or an act of terrorism.

McKinney was transported to the Brevard County Jail, where he is reportedly being held on a $25,000 bond.

He confessed to writing the "dumb review" and told authorities he could see how it was interpreted as a threat but assured them he had no "real intentions to commit a shooting," according to the Miami Herald.

McKinney allegedly said he was just angry at the way staff treated his wife, and believed this could have been exasperated after he failed to take his medication for his "mental health conditions."

Cocoa Beach Police Chief Scott Rosenfeld said the arrest sent a clear message to the public that threats of mass violence would not be tolerated.

"The safety of our community is paramount, and we, as well as our law enforcement partners, are committed to carrying out that mission," he said, according to Space Coast Daily.
