A Holocaust skate routine by Russian star Tatiana Navka sparked outrage after a video of the performance surfaced on YouTube over the weekend.

Navka, an Olympic figure skating champion and the wife of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman, gave a Holocaust-themed performance with actor Andrey Burkovskiy Saturday night for a Russian reality television show, CBS News reported.

Navka and Burkovskiy both wore gold stars and striped uniforms, which is what Jewish prisoners wore in concentration camps during the Holocaust.

They skated to “Beautiful That Way,” a song from the 1997 movie “Life is Beautiful,” which was a film about the Holocaust.

Following the controversial performance, Navka took to her Instagram account to post a collage of pictures from the routine, which sparked outrage as users demanded an apology.

One user called Navka a “very sick person” for the performance.

“6 million are dead,” the user said in a comment on Navka’s post. “It’s not art its very sick. U should apologize.”

“This is awful,” another user said. “Do you not realize you celebrated an atrocity? This isn’t about a movie — it’s about real life and the murder of millions!!!!”

“HOLOCAUST on ice….how scabrous,” a Facebook user said in a post.

According to The Sun, the routine included “bizarre miming sequences which even saw Navka pretend to shoot her partner.”

Navka wasn't apologetic about the performance. In her Instagram post, she made it clear that the performance was based on “Life is Beautiful,” a movie that she refers to as “one of her favorite movies.”

Navka said she believes children need to be aware that the Holocaust took place and they need to also know what it is.

“One of my favorite numbers! Inspired by one of my favorite films, ‘Life is Beautiful’! You must show your children this film,” said Navka, per The Telegraph.

“Our children must know and remember about such terrible times that I hope, by the grace of God, they will never experience,” she added.

Navka is a two-time world champion as a figure skater and she won gold in the Winter Olympics back in 2006.

She has also appeared on Ice Age as a professional ice dancer serval times.
