Hilary Duff has taken aim at Kanye West, who announced that he would be running for president in 2020. The "Lizzie McGuire" star took to Instagram on Sunday to mock his presidential bid in a scathing post that called out Californians who were not taking the spread of the coronavirus seriously.

Duff wrote of how the pandemic has become a political statement and then quipped that she would also be challenging Donald Trump for president — an apparent jab at West.

In her lengthy Instagram post, Duff described how she and her husband Matthew Koma and their 21-month-old daughter, Banks, had taken a family drive when they passed a "raging house party" at which no one was taking measures like wearing masks or practicing social distancing to safeguard themselves against COVID-19.

"A**holes," Duff wrote of the partygoers in the caption of a family selfie. "No masks (of course). Girls in bathing suits and louboutins waiting to get in like a line at a club."

Duff then addressed the current state of the nation and how Americans were handling the pandemic.

"California is in bad shape (in so many ways) but doesn’t everyone think we all want to go out freely and travel and enjoy summer," she wrote. "It really seems like Americans just don’t care about each other...somehow this pandemic has turned into a political stance between parties...that’s a head scratcher for me."

Duff noted how other countries had "come together in a beautiful way" to contain the virus, but in America, things were different.

"It’s embarrassing that we are worse than ever because people need to party and Karens won’t wear masks! Oh and I’m running for President," she concluded her post.

West, a vocal supporter of Trump, made his presidential announcement on Saturday.

"We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States," West wrote in a Twitter post, adding an American flag emoji and the hashtag "#2020VISION."

It was not immediately clear if West was serious about vying for the presidency four months before the Nov. 3 election or if he had filed any official paperwork to appear on state election ballots.
