Heather Locklear's home was searched Tuesday for a gun after she allegedly threatened Ventura County Sheriff's deputies who arrested her Feb. 25 after receiving a domestic violence call, People magazine wrote.

The property search for a weapon registered in the actress's name was prompted by the threat against authorities, Ventura County Sheriff Capt. Garo Kuredjian told People.

Authorities alleged in a Thousand Oaks Police Department statement that Locklear, 56, the former star of "Melrose Place" verbally threatened deputies saying she would "shoot them if they ever came to her house again," People reported.

"She had made some very specific threats to deputies after her last arrest," Ventura County Sheriff Capt. Mike Beckett told "Entertainment Tonight." "There was a firearm registered in her name, so the purpose of the search was simply to go and look for that firearm."

Locklear was arrested for felony domestic violence and three counts of battery on a peace officer after authorities arrived at her home on Feb. 25, "Entertainment Tonight" reported.

"Our deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence," said a statement from the Ventura County sheriff's a day after the arrest, per the celebrity news program. "When they arrived, Ms. Locklear was uncooperative with the deputies and actually battered three of our deputies.

"We initiated an investigation, which revealed that she had actually battered a boyfriend at the residence prior to our arrival," the statement continued.

"Entertainment Tonight" wrote that Locklear later posted a $20,000 bond for release and her boyfriend, Chris Heisser, was arrested on a DUI charge.

The news show wrote that Locklear has allegedly had past problems with substance abuse and was arrested on suspicion of DUI in 2008, which was later reduced to reckless driving. "Entertainment Tonight" added that she had reportedly entered rehab on numerous occasions.

People reported that Locklear was cited for misdemeanor hit-and-run in 2010 after hitting a no-parking sign on a public street and in 2001 Los Angeles Police were called to the home of her then-boyfriend Jack Wagner after they got in to a physical incident but no charges were filed.
