Rep. Sessions: NRCC Will Help Hasner's Congressional Campaign

Texas Rep. Pete Sessions is promising plenty of support from the national GOP to help former Florida House Majority Leader Adam Hasner’s bid to win a newly created congressional seat in South Florida.
“We’ve been actively working with Adam to recruit him to run in the new 22nd Congressional District and I applaud his decision to accept this challenge,” said Sessions, who heads the National Republican Congressional Committee. “Adam represented Palm Beach and Broward counties during his eight-year tenure in the Florida House, and voters in the proposed 22nd Congressional District know him as a principled and conservative leader who always puts his constituents first.”
Hasner had been running for a U.S. Senate seat up until last week. But he quickly dropped that effort to run in the new district, which encompasses much of his old state House constituency.
Sessions, noting Hasner’s familiarity with voters in the new district, said the committee would be providing plenty of help for his campaign under its “Young Guns” program.
“We look forward to working with Adam to ensure the proposed 22nd District continues to have a Republican representative who will fight for lower taxes and a more-limited federal government,” Sessions said.
The program, which recruits GOP candidates for Congress and then financially backs them, helped elect 62 new House members in the 2010, an effort that helped provide Republicans with a 25-seat majority.
In addition, to providing financial support, the program also helps train new recruits in the art of fundraising and aggressive grassroots campaigning. It helped raise $10.6 million for GOP candidates in 2010.
