The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, a Universal Orlando attraction modeled after the popular book and film franchise, will debut its latest expansion next month, a project that features a Diagon Alley recreation and a new ride.

Universal Orlando, a theme park resort in central Florida, announced Wednesday that the Harry Potter World expansion will officially open July 8, Reuters reported.

"All-new thrills and magical experiences await! Dine at the Leaky Cauldron, shop at Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes, and get ready for the all-new multi-dimensional thrill ride, Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts!" the park said on its website.

The new additions to Harry Potter World center around Diagon Alley, the bustling London wizarding district where J.K. Rowling's beloved character shopped for his wand, schoolbooks, cloaks, and other magical items in the books and film adaptations.

The original Universal Orlando attraction opened in 2010 and highlighted Hogsmeade Village and Hogwarts Castle.

Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley are in separate Universal Orlando parks, connected by a train called the Hogwarts Express. That means that guests who want to visit both must purchase the $136 dual-park pass, according to Reuters.

Another Harry Potter milestone happening in July is ABC Family's movie marathon. For the first time ever, the network will air all eight "Harry Potter" films back-to-back from July 11 to July 14.

The network often airs "Harry Potter" marathons but, according to the Examiner, this is the first time the channel has held the rights to all eight films at the same time.
