A so-called "Good Girl" prom dress poster sparked outrage among the student body at Stanton College Prep High School in Jacksonville, Florida, on Monday.

The flyer reportedly reflected guidelines for dresses worn by female students attending the dance, with photos of dresses deemed appropriate labeled "Going to Stanton Prom? Yes, you are. Good girl," First Coast News reported.

"There was immediate outrage due to not only to the fact that the dress code was introduced five days before prom, but also because of the sexist connotations," Lily Willingham, a student at Stanton College Prep, told The Huffington Post.

Willingham posted the poster on Twitter Monday.

Other students and their supporters took to Twitter to respond to the poster, using the hashtag #SCPGoodGirl.

The Huffington Post wrote that school officials apologized at 10 a.m. Tuesday during school hours, but many wore purple and white in protest of the original poster.

"It was incredibly inspiring to me to see that students voices were heard (on Tuesday) and we were able to unite as a student body to make a difference," Willingham told The Huffington Post. "It also brought to light an issue affecting women all over the nation when it comes to dress code in schools as well as societies constant hyper-sexualization of female's bodies so I hope bringing attention to this will cause change in not only schools but society as well."
