Zimmerman's wife Shellie pleaded guilty Aug. 28 to a misdemeanor charge of perjury. Prosecutors involved in George Zimmerman's murder trial said that Shellie Zimmerman lied when she told the court during an April 2012 bond hearing for her husband that the family was indigent.
The Zimmermans had about $135,000 raised for his defense. Recorded jailhouse phone calls between the couple revealed the two spoke in code about their finances.
Shellie Zimmerman was placed on probation for one year, must perform 100 hours of community service and pay court costs.
