Geoffrey Scott, best known as the actor who played tennis pro Mark Jennings on "Dynasty," has died at age 79. The star's wife, Cheri, confirmed this week that Scott had passed away on Feb. 23, a day after his birthday, in Broomfield, Colo., following a battle with Parkinson's.

"He loved to ski and that's why he spent his last years in Colorado," Cheri told Fox News. "His career enabled him to do a lot of outdoor sports. That's what he loved."

Born on Feb. 22, 1942, Scott grew up in San Fernando Valley, Calif., Variety reported. His break into showbiz came after being snapped up by agent Dick Clayton, who worked with several stars including James Dean and Jane Fonda. He was cast in his first major screen role in 1970, as Sky Rumson in "Dark Shadows." From there he went on to appear in various films and TV shows.

Scott played Jeffrey Jordan in "Where the Heart Is," in 1972 and Mel Anderson in 1974's "Houston, We’ve Got a Problem." Other credits include the NBC series "Cliffhangers: The Secret Empire" as well as "Concrete Cowboys."

In 1982, Scott landed his most memorable role as Jennings in "Dynasty," which ran until 1984. He also made appearances on HBO’s "1st & Ten" from 1984 to 1985 and on "General Hospital" in 1989. Scott's last role was in 2003, when he acted as the president in "Hulk."

Scott is survived by his wife, Cheri Catherine Scott, and sons Christopher and Matthew Scott.
