Israel's next Gaza war will be the last, Israel’s Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman said during an interview on Monday with Al-Qud, a Palestinian newspaper, "because we will completely destroy them."

Lieberman added that he had no intention of starting a new war, Times of India noted.

"As a minister of defense, I would like to clarify that we have no intention of starting a new war against our neighbors in the Gaza Strip or the West Bank, Lebanon or Syria," he said in the interview, according to the Times.

"But in Gaza, like the Iranians, they intend to eliminate the state of Israel… If they impose the next war on Israel, it will be their last. I would like to emphasize again: It will be their last confrontation because we will completely destroy them."

During the interview, Lieberman also took the opportunity to assert that he wouldn’t be opposed to a "two-state solution," as he talked about his vision for the future in Israel and regional developments, the Middle East Monitor noted.

"We do not have any requests or demands from our neighbors," he said. "We gave Sinai to Egypt, we have a peace treaty with Jordan, and we have diplomatic relations with Lebanon, and we do not have any demands."

"The Arab Spring or Arab Winter has completely changed the situation in the Arab world, and we did not have anything to do with this. Ninety-nine percent of all the victims and bloodshed is occurring amongst the Muslims themselves, and not with the Israelis."

About a month ago the Israeli leader spoke about an exchange of territory during a policy talk with students at Ariel University, the Jerusalem post noted.

"The principle of land for peace has failed," Lieberman said during the talk at the university, adding that the best solution "is an exchange of territories and population."

According to the Jerusalem Post, Lieberman’s interview with Al-Quds newspaper was his first interview ever with Palestinian media.
