The "Friends" reunion show, which fans have long anticipated and have been clamoring for, has been put on hold as concerns over the coronavirus grow. Filming for the unscripted special was scheduled to take place March 24-25 but the project has been delayed, according to ET.

The sitcom's entire original cast — Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer — had reportedly signed on for the project, which was to be shot at the same Burbank, California, soundstage where the original series was filmed.

The show was initially meant to be aired in May, along with the entire library of "Friends," on HBO Max and while the date for the "Friends" reunion show had to be pushed back, the streaming service's launch is reportedly still on track.

The "Friends" reunion show is just one of many other Hollywood productions to be shut down as states urge social distancing in an effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

Netflix and Disney were among the first to pause productions on Friday and there have since been dozens of other disruptions. Late-night hosts Jimmy Fallon, James Corden, and Stephen Colbert are among several who are on a break, while NBC suspended production on all of its shows, according to Vanity Fair.

Furthermore, the release dates of major films including "Black Widow" have been postponed.
